Soft roofing is gaining increasing popularity for the construction of private houses due to its low price, ease of installation and other characteristics. In this article we look at the types of soft roof and their features.
In the classification of soft roofs include roofing, performed on the basis of the following building materials:
Flexible (bituminous) tiles;
Polymer-bitumen coatings;
Liquid rubber;
Polymer membranes;
Bulk polymeric roofs.
Shingles
The flexible tile is a sandwich-type material, the basis of fiberglass cloth on both sides is covered with high-quality bitumen, the underside is supplied with an adhesive layer and an anti-adhesive substrate, and the upper side is protected from mechanical influences by a layer of coarse solid materials (basalt). The artificial rubber modified bitumen has the best operational and technical characteristics. Initially, being a flexible analogue of familiar ceramics, today, shingles are ready to present amazing varieties. Whole sheets are covered with a pattern imitating a tiled roof, and the self-adhesive layer allows you to quickly apply a coating with a small - if compared with conventional flexible tiles - the number of stitches. Polymer-bitumen coatings
Polymer-bitumen coatings will require the active participation of the burner, so the entire substrate must be resistant to fire and temperature damage. The rolls of polymer fabrics are impregnated with bitumen, and the whole point is that the melted bitumen, which adheres well to the surface, cools down, forming a strong connection with the roof. A roll of sheet material is placed according to the intended trajectory of the gasket and is rolled along the intended path with preheating to the melting point of the bitumen.
Liquid rubber
Liquid rubber is distinguished by the complete absence of seams; the method of application is spraying. The respirator will not interfere; since air flows can trap individual droplets and fine liquid rubber dust. The connection of polymeric membranes with each other is similar to the installation of plastic pipes by the help of Roof Cleaning Sydney professionals, since both are based on polymers. The meaning is reduced to the heating of the joints and their subsequent cooling, but the use of special glue is also allowed.
Self-leveling roofs
Self-leveling roofs owe their existence to the excellent waterproofing properties of mastic. If necessary, the coating is reinforced with fiberglass.
